Hello all,
As discussed in my previous posts, I am in the process of painting a plane that has been flying for 3 years.
Is there a problem with painting the exposed ends of rudder and elevator cables. My painter suggests we simply turn the rudder lock-to-lock and paint all exposed cable. I just want to make sure that isn't a safety issue. What have others done when painting?

Ernest,
It's probably a better idea to mask off the cables as you would your
attaching hardware. The better to see
and inspect the condition of your cables during their lifetime.

That is what I tended to think. That is what I shall do.
Thank you!

No safety issue, but will probably chip and come off it time. Tell your
painter to quit being lazy and use a little tape. Larry, N1345L
