Howdy
I'm replacing the "glass" on my door windows (Series 7) and am considering fasteners other than pop rivets.
Has anyone used rivnuts and screws? Other suggestions?

Rivnuts work fine if you have the square tubing like my S5. I used double sided sticky tape which holds fine (LP acrylic). The screws are about every 12 inches just for insurance. A touch of locktite will give better security to the screws. Mine would loosen over time until I locktited. Ensure it doesn't touch the acrylic or Lexan whichever you're using. Also, ensure you drill the holes at least 50% larger than the screw to make room for expansion/contraction.

I drilled and tapped the frame for number 8 screws. Looks nice, plane hasn't flown yet.

I did. Just don't make the mistake I did and use Loctite on the
screws. Man, that was expensive. (If you get Loctite anywhere near
certain clear plastics, like whatever LP Aero uses, the plastic
shatters.) Use clear silicone instead. I used nice black pan head
socket head screws and they looked nice. It also makes maintenance
and installation easier.

We finished up the doors and windows recently and decided to go with rivnuts. worked out extremely well. We used 8-32's. They work great on the round tube. The round tube helps from the stand point of once the rivnut conforms to the inside of the tube they Can't ever turn out. heres some pics...(sry, I think they keep posting in backwards order)
