I operate my Rocket off the service road into my neighborhood anytime the strip gets too gooey to land on, pretty much all summer. It's no worries. My first choice for forced landings is a paved road rather than a field. Reason? Every RV forced landing I have helped clean up was on it's back, trapping the pilot. Growing up around an AG strip, roads were always high on our list as "alternate airfields" and used often. Smile

That was the essence of the request, I suppose. I couldn't resist throwing my two-bits into the ring anyway. I never had the need to use a road in an emergency, thank God for that. So, writing my story was perhaps more a tour down memory lane than a response to their request. Smile
