Hey guys,
I am removing all my Blue Mountain stuff and evaluating Autopilots that can be installed in the plane. Can any that have one make any comments on the Trutrack and Trio units? Single and dual axis configurations.
Thanks,
Bill Schertz

Bill;
I have a TRIO EZ-Pilot with Altitude Hold module. It is great, especially since it is linked to either my GARMIN 430W or 496 via a selector switch. I give it two thumbs up!
Have you considered a DYNON unit with autopilot? Just buy the servo's and you are good to go. I hope to eventually replace my system with the DYNON one IF the "cash fairy" ever smiles down on me. )

I have the trutrak installed in my place, but havn't flown yet. Very close! The downside is that the servos are stepper motors so you see the steps a little in the controls. Also the rectangular face model makes for a difficult hole to cut in the panel. I'd go with the circular model if I did it again.
I have the dynon displays, a D-100 and a D-180, in my panel. I like them a lot and the install wasn't bad using their prefab harneses and sensors. The only change I made was to replace their shunt with a GRT hall effect sensor for current which is a lot safer in my mind. If you go dynon I'd probably use their autopilot.
One advantage to using the trutrak autopilot separate from the dynon is that you end up with another independent gyro in the panel. Still, two dynon units with battery backups in a lot of redundancy already. I would have gone with the dynon autopilot if it had been available when I did my panel.
