Technically that meets the specs. At Ultimate load, permanent
deformation is allowed. The plane can get bent but has to stay together.
Whether one wants to see more margin in that area, that's another
matter. (As you brought up.)
Mind you, there is some beefing up in the "ZU" upgrade package. I'm
hazy on how all the spar and center section parts fit together, but
there are doublers added to the spar roots, and to the center section
spar where it joins the wing spars. Also, a few extra bolts hold
those doublers on, and the main wing spar bolts are lengthened. So
the bolts will have loads distributed across a greater area which may help.
