For those of you not to this point yet... do yourselves a favor and drill a 2nd hole through the front axle.... if you don't you will almost always end up with too little torque or too much. Because of the nut and use of cotter pin, we are limited to 60 degrees, 1/6th turn to get it right. Drilling a 2nd hole, you can at least get closer to optimum (30 degrees, 1/12th of a turn.

Does the duct tape go on your teeth because you're tightening so much?

Wink yeah and for the wheel axles with extensions I went to the farm
store and bought a "bigass" combination wrench and cut it in half for
easier maneuvering. Gotta love them tools.

BTW: harbor freight has a flyer out with the infared laser thermometer
on sale for under $30. When you need one they're awesome.

It's easy to remember:

Don McDonald had a wrench, E-I-E-I-O

I agree completely with drilling the nut or extra hole concept. We
drilled the nut after finding one was too tight and one was too loose.

The other day I was heading out for my regular commute when I saw a
friend in his sweet F33 Bonanza in the run up area. We waved and he was
off for his left downwind. I completed my run-up as another two
departures and an arrival proceeded my left downwind. I ended up passing
the F33 at on my way through 8,000' to 9,500'. I was climbing faster and
at a greater rate of climb. While we were not that close to each other
he did comment that he could see my "shit eating grin." All I could say
is that its an "official RV Shit eating grin" thank you very much and
shit never tasted so good!

The more I fly the -10 the more I like it. I am not sure if it's the
avionics suite, the comfort or it's utilitarian nature but it is one
terrific airplane.

Keep building and fly safe,

Robin
