Craig Winkleman's list of Yak suppliers is disappointingly parochial, listing only US organisations.
Clearly the Yak list is a US-based list, and he of course is writing from the US.
However there are more Western Yaks outside the US, than there are inside. (I.e. excluding all the ones in Russia etc).
Also I suspect that there are more people involved in this business, simply because there are more countries and the business becomes more spread out.
In addition we are in an increasingly international world, and certainly for Yaks, this whole issue of support and spare parts etc will undoubtedly become a lot more difficult in the future. For this reason alone, I have no doubt that individuals will develop specific specialities, and will be serving the Yak community on a world-wide basis rather than a specifically national one.
I have started this thread, since I had always understood that the Yak List was definitively NOT commercial and no commercial postings were allowed. This seemed to me perfectly reasonable, although I run a commercial business in the Yak world - indeed have sold more Yaks and more engines than anyone.
The only reason that I mentioned it at the beginning was that a number of organisations seem to be listing purely commercial messages. My feeling was that there is probably a need for such a thing, but why not organise it in a way that EITHER there is a separate list - although people do not seem to like that, OR have listings from specifically recognised people - but that does seem to be a bit limiting.
However I am sure that there are ways of controlling this to prevent spam - or am I wrong?

Richard:
There was no intent on my part to include or exclude anyone as the list was not meant to be exhaustive. That is why I put "I could go on, and on..." as the list could go on and on and I certainly do not know every supplier of thing that are made for or could be used on our aircraft. The point was to support those that support our community.
People like you, Doug Sapp, Brian Lloyd, Dennis Savareese, Mark Bitterlich, Walt Lannon, Craig Payne, AND MANY OTHERS freely give their advice and expertise to us who ask and we all GREATLY APPRECIATE it. So, it should be you all who we go to when we want to spend money on stuff (yes, I do know that not all listed above are owners of businesses that have stuff to keep us in the air!). That was the point.
I have long thought the RPA website should be the repository for information on knowledgeable mechanics, parts suppliers, importers, aircraft restorers, etc, etc who focus in Yaks, CJs, L-39s, L-29s, etc, etc. Wouldn't it be nice if the RPA did that AND made sure the vendors were legit. They could list vendors by category (parts, mechanics, engines, etc) and provide contact info and a link to the website.
I am sorry if I missed or offended anybody by not listing their name above or in the prior note.
Craig

Yak-list Newbies;
"Newbie" meaning anyone less than 5 years on the 'list. Before the Redstar Pilots Association, we were known as the "Yak Pilots Association", before that it was the "Yak Pilots Club". During some of those years I published a YPC/YPA Directory comprised of listing of Vendors, Members and Paid Advertising. A lot of work to publish but the results were a book you could pick up and see almost everyone associated with the business and what they had to offer. Some of those vendors are now sponsors of the RPA as well.
Richard Goode has long been a paying advertiser and supporter of our collective efforts as well as being a leading vendor of Eastern Block aircraft.
