There were some discussions on VAF awhile back.

http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=42940

The AeroLEDS unit tested a little quieter than the Aveo unit. The problem is that quite a few LED drivers are quite noisy (electrically speaking). Van’s does offer the AeroLEDS complete package (strobe/position units for both wings and the tail) less expensive than the AeroLEDS site.

http://www.vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?ident=1258414959-434-198&browse=new&product=AeroLEDs

Aero Pulsar NS 90 Left and Right
Part Number = LN-201
Price = $760.00

Aero Suntail Position/Strobe
Part Number = LN-210
Price = $340.00

Since I’m still a year out from needing these, so I’m waiting to see how the market matures and if competition causes pricing to go down.

We have Aeroleds and are really happy. We had some noise with one of our headsets, the others were fine. I don't recall what the spec was on the cap. Added a capacitor at each light to eliminate any remaining noise. When we got our lights they did not have a wig tip light without the rear position lights, so they made a custom set with the rear facing lights removed.

Aveo would not deliver on promised lights for over 8 months.

I am not sure when I became the cheap one on the RV-10 list but here it goes.
On my 8A build I have chosen Red & Green Position lights from the automotive market.
$5.00 to $20.00 each with a number of different connector choices for just a few dollars.
These are not the exact bulbs I chose but you will get the idea.

$7.99

19 LED $5.99

36 LED Array $15.00 each

For landing lights I am going with an automotive HID light that was waterproof and I think I saw a video of some guy hitting the ballast with a hammer while the light was still working. I recall it was something like $130 for the pair.

Sorry I don’t have my documentation with me to share the exact Items I selected. Good luck with your choices.

Robin
