Glad to see you're having fun & flying a lot with your Xtra.
I'm curious what your climb rate is with the Jabiru 2200? What type of prop do you have on it?

Nice video, Chris. Lots more exciting down low. How do your lakeside neighbors feel about your low and close-in zoom zoom near their backyards?

Thom...Alot of the cottagers are gone for the winter, but I stay 500 ft out and away from any one ....and everyone else I don't want to hear about it or start a big deal about flying low...ok? enough said ...

Chris,
I hope you did not take my comment as a criticism, because that was not my intention. Our airport just went through a traumatic and completely unnecessary involvement of the town board, ATC controllers at KBUF, and five FAA employees from the FSDO.... all because some irate homeowner who bought his home near our airport last fall and started complaining about low flying aircraft.
The airport management scheduled a meeting at the airport with dozens of residents coming to meet to discuss their complaints. The local US congressional rep. sent his aid; the town board sent the head guy; the KBUF ATC folks brought Google Earth overheads with the radar tracks showing all the flight activity at our airport for the day and time of the alleged "flight between our houses"; and the FAA sent the closest FSDO manager (60 miles away) AND the REGIONAL FSDO manager as well as the guys in charge of maintenance and airport operations oversight our FSDO region. The officials held presentations for the residents to help them to understand how GA operates. The ATC presentation that showed that the claim made by the new residents was completely bogus and a lie. Most of the residents were satisfied but this particular new resident, whose purpose was to get a 50+ year old airport that contributes a LOT as a reliever airport to KBUF and the town tax base, closed after he moved into the area, would not be satisfied. Fortunately, the town board and the FAA essentially told him he was effectively pissing up a rope and had no grounds for further action.
So, I was just wondering if your neighbors were understanding folks or like this one guy who is retired with nothing else to do, making his end-of-life goal to eliminate the airport that he moved close to.

No problem Thom....sounds like some one needs to to talk to this guy with a rubber hose ! LOL We only had one problem up here about 3 years ago when one of the new student pilots decided it would be cool to buz the local DNR guy who had someone pulled over on the ice with a snowmobile....they didn't think it was funny at all ! lol The GATO guy had a talk with him and that was the end....500 ft is the magic number for us...in fact in this weeks Resorter paper some guy in there wants to close the St Helen airport because he said he has never seen an airplane take off or land there since he has lived there...which is a lie because I have done both there several times during the year with both airplanes , but thats all it take to get the ball rolling...
