Doug:
Thank goodness for you! You are certainly helping to keep us flying. The top overhaul capability for the Housai is a huge step. It would be nice if a radial engine overhaul company like Radial Engines Inc. got involved with the M-14 and Housai from a rebuild standpoint (as an aside, they have developed a fuel injection system for the Jacobs engine...hmmmm).
Another question...what has happened to the 400 HP radial China was working on? I know Richard Hess who owns a CJ here on the east coast has been running one of those engines for at least three years.
It would also be nice to see some form of electronic ignition developed. That would solve the magneto issue for good. A CDI system would also give a much "hotter" spark that would provide a better fuel burn which would lead to less fuel consumption. With more energy, the use of resistive plugs and wires could also reduce the RF issues.
