Just out of curiosity, how far was it installed below the exhaust flange?

2-3 inches IIRC; symptoms were an EGT fluctuating at 300-400 F below all
other EGTS. EGTS never exceed 1400F in cruise and only exceed 1420 during
the transition to LOP operation. EGT spread is less than 75F, CHT spread is
less than 35F.
