Can anyone give me the secret to removing the back seat bucket on a CJ? I've removed the rear-most pins, but am at a loss on the forward attachments for the back seat bucket. The attachments are safety wired and would appear to unscrew, but may also "slip" out like the rear pins. Any maintenance tips on the subject would be greatly appreciated. To further expound upon Pappy's post. The pins are pulled out by
putting a screw driver in the 3 tracks and working the font pins out.
The holes in the floor are a major source of air (and, thus, CO) into
the cockpit. It is advisable to close these up. Alu tape is the
easiest way to do it, but there are obviously other methods.
Just thinking about this as I write.... we redo all the stick boots on
our aircraft and this does help (but not totally eliminate) draft
coming up around the shaft of the stick. If anyone is interested in
those, I can send pics. They can be made out of canvas or leather.
Louvering panels on the belly is probably the best way we've found to
keep the CO out of the cockpit. Craig Payne did an article in Red
Alert about this awhile back.
Time for my tryptophan nap.....
Happy Flying

Good points. I R&R'd the back seat yeaterday. Did exactly what you advised with AL tape. Replaced the stick boots last year with stick shift boots from a local speed shop. Thanks for the tips. JB
