List,

While I am not usually quick to judge somebody's intentions, I am quick to apologize if I have mis spoken or mis judged an action.

Jabiru USA has corrected a billing mistake for me, and as many Jabiru USA supporters have pointed out, they seem to be a stand-up company.

Back to building (re-building 601XL)

Mike

Have you seen shipping these days? I still am glad to have the support from
Shelbyville. If you dont want to used Shelbyville you can order from your
local airport FBO and get some nice TSO'parts and they I think you would
really scream.

I had to buy a fair amount of these rivets to hold nut plates. Suitable
rivets are Cherry N Rivets in stainless steel and countersunk. They are
available from Aircraft Spruce in lots of 100 as follows:

CCC-32 MK319BS 3/32" 41 .125 $12.60 plus shipping

It is a small package so USPS is probably the cheapest shipping method. I
also have found JabiruUSA to be very helpful and friendly. You may have
talked to Dana. JabiruUSA is still small enough that you can get to know
all the people there. That is a worthwhile effort.

Mike, I have done the same thing - When ordering from any business by phone, forget to ask; "What will be the total price including shipping ?" Sounds like you did'nt ask, or else you would not have ordered. Sorry to say that it sounds like you ripped yourself off. Believe me I know the feeling Embarassed Yes they are nice people at Jabiru USA.

People,

I am usually very careful about internet or phone orders with a credit card. Shipping was not the issue here. That was $3.00.

I have since ordered from ACS a similar, but stainless steel rivet for a fraction of the cost that Jab. USA ripped me off for.

Yes, it is my fault for letting this happen! It will not happen to me again.

I don't buy the "support" issue in this case... Jab. USA hasn't shown me any support.

On with the upgrades...
Luck,
Mike

Just out of idle curiosity, did you call them and discuss the bill before posting your displeasure?

Unless I misread something, it would seem that you didn't.

I am very familiar with the level of courtesy, honesty, fairness and customer service that the good folks at USA Jabiru. What you have described is out of character, particularly for the leadership there. Over my years of working with ALL of them, I have not detected the slightest tinge of a desire to "rip people off". I would not do business with them if they did.

What you have described sounds like a miscommunication between two of the folks there...not larceny in their souls.

It is also possible you have not shared all of the story. The firmness of THEIR character does not make them patsies; so could there be more to it?

By all means let us hear from you if you are able to negotiate a more positive outcome.

When I was in the market for a new voltage regulator for my 2200A I called Jabiru USA and was quoted a very high price for it from them. BUT the gal I spoke to there (can't remember the name) acknowledged their price was rather high and then suggested I call someone else (can't remember the name there either) and she gave me the Kubota part number.

Bottom line is that, as an importer, they have very little control of the pricing of their parts. But their willingness to recommend other sources and provide the actual manufacturer's part number is good customer service.

I can tell you from personal experience, none of the Rotax distributors will do that. In fact they do a fear and smear campaign to keep you from buying standard parts like oil filters from sources other than Rotax. Rotax oil filter is about $22 now and yet there are a plethora of auto filters that do a great job at $5-$8.

Maybe you should have asked for a price before shipping. Or ordered the 50$ min from the other company. Some one has to buy them in bulk ,and if you are not willing to than you must pay for the conveniance of it.

I have never found working with JABUSA to be a problem and prices fair considereing most the stuff is specialty items you would have paid double for some where else anyways.

I recently needed more of the tiny 3/32 csnk pop rivets supplied by Jab USA in the 601 FWF kit. The only place I could locate these on the internet was an outfit that had a $50.00 min. order. Not needing more than a few more rivets I called Shelbyville and asked if they send about 50. The girl said "no problem"... I asked if I could give her a credit card.
"No, she said" I'm thinking, as I hung up, "boy, that was nice of them"
Bullshit! they still had my credit card from 2 years ago, and sent me a receipt yesterday for $43 for those 50 pop rivets and shipping.

So be careful, $ 4.00 worth of rivets cost me $43 through Jabiru USA.
Hard lesson...!!!!!!
