I am finally getting the wings on to the aircraft ) - must be the
slowest build ever.
I notice that when i look along the wing the right wing has a slight
waviness to the upper surface from the root to about rib no 3. there is
no equivalent on the other wing.
Has any had similar experience? Will it have any effect on the flying
characteristics?
My feeling is not, given that the height difference is imperceptible
when looking at the wing from the front - it is only when looking along
the wing that you notice.
My kit is an XS fast build.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Will,
Not to worry!
Your wings should fly fine.
Composite structure, when kept at temperatures near the glass transition
temperature have a tendency to sag.
Chordwise sagging should have minimal effect of the aerodynamics

As Ira stated span wise waviness will not cause much harm. John L. mentioned on laminar flow gliders, .008" chord wise will begin to cause extra drag.
Now as far as looks go, if you fill any "evil" where any unevenness transitions over a larger area it's hard to tell.
Keep in mind you need to fare in root fairing, pretty big bump so anything outboard 18" of fairing is going to be fill.
Use straight edge span wise to see what needs fill and a flexible spline or ruler to see what is needed chord wise. Best have area dark and shine light from opposite ruler paralleling wing. BOY ARE YOU GOING TO BE IN FOR A SURPRISE!
Fill cures a lot of evil. My wings have many areas between ribs that are a bit low, root first couple of ribs are worst on one wing compared to the other, both bottoms of my wings have ripples by spar. I am only going to make sure there are no fast changes and perhaps go a little heavy with high build primer on low areas. Plastic aeroplanes change shape, not worth it IMHO to make things perfect at the expense of a lot of extra weight and time needed only to have it change shape on you. I am striving for a nice 5 foot aerolpane, looks nice from 5 foot but is an aeroplane that is usable and if a repair is made it will not stick out too bad compared to trying to initiate a repair on "Symmetry".
For large area fill after scuff sanding I wet area with Aeropoxy and 60 minute hardener, wait for it to get good and tacky then apply Expancel very very dry with 60 minute hardener. for smaller filling I use Aeropoxy light. BTW you can go wet on wet with Aeropoxy light if you see you missed anything with Expancel. Nice thing about Aeropoxy light is you don't need to wet out and get a water line of hard epoxy to give you a hassle when sanding. For final mini filling, even larger areas that are 1/32" thick I like 3M flow-able finishing putty, it can be sanded in short time. Then will use PPG DPLF thin as an adhesion promoter and use PPG K-36 as a high build primer, then for final finish seal with DPLF and final coat use my color PPG DCC.
