Les,
I once used some octane boosters in my 912 when my gas bowser and plane had set for over a month and I didn't want to dump the gas in my truck and refill it for my plane.(I always use Stabil knew that in the hot summer months down here, that MY engine would often diesel on shut down turning the blades backward for about 3 rounds if the octane was too low. I added some octane booster to the wing tanks, shook the plane a bit and went flying. The engine acted normally during flight and on shutdown. So I would say it worked OK on that one trial
In the past if I waited that long without cycling thru the fuel, I could sure tell that the octane had dropped. It doesn't take long (not even a month I have been told)
