Pappy (Jim Goolsby) was awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award today in a ceremony at Lakeland (Sun 'n Fun). That means he has been flying for 50 years minimum, no accidents and never getting caught ...or something like that.



Just to let all you folks out there know, the FAA is always keeping tabs. Today's recipients each received a stack of papers for everything FAA had on them. For Jim that was about an inch thick stack of Ratings, LOA type ratings, etc. From first student pilot submission to his last B-24 type rating.

Uh, have you ever been to a bar with Pappy?  That's been the case as long as I've known him!



Pappy gave me my first formation instructional hop and also my wing check ride. Pappy gave me my flight lead familiarization hop at Oshkosh.  Pappy flew all the way across the country to solely help us out at All Red Star for 5 years in a row and never asked for anyting.  Pappy gave me advice when I got married to my now ex wife that gave Pappy his call sign...well, you can't win 'em all!  



Congrats Pappy.  You have made a difference in the lives of more people than I'm sure you even know about, and I'm grateful for the difference you've made in mine.
