Will be interested in seeing what the “assessors” find on this one. I know what it sounds like and that is probably it. But, will await the British investigators.
Wonder if there was a FOD cover on the aft bulk head?

Just curious... does anyone ever think of going inverted and pushing negative to dislodge something caught in the bellcrank? Be interesting to hear his version of what happened.

Don’t know but probably with the nose buried down with brown filling the wind screen and the sound of air rushing by the canopy while pulling like hell on the jammed stick the thought probably just escaped the memory banks. At least that would be my guess.
Seems if you had the ability to push the stick forward then an outside loop might free it up. Again purely speculation and No I do not want to be a guinea pig for that. Next question, why not step over the sides if all else is turning to feces. That is probably where the inverted push would come in handy.

Mark,
This is not too far from where I am at the moment.. saw it on the news this morning.. lol
.. but for this part of the world, pretty normal.. I ran into an Yak that “landed gear up” – we would call it crashed.. the owner could not afford to fix it, so he added on to his gas station..

Hi all
I'm not sure Bob is a Brit - as far as I know he is South African. The accident happened in Bisho, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Bob is one of the characters of local aviation, a very experienced aerobatic pilot and instructor.
One of the knobs on the gill control levers went walkabout several months back, and was replacd by the owner. Despite a search of the aircraft the missing one was not found - until now.
We're all pleased that the outcome was not a fatal accident - it was very close. It's been a very bad week for aviation here - airline over-run, a light aircraft over-run, and an Extra down on Sunday with two fatalities.
Blue skies
Mike

Mike,
Thank you for the correction and the update. As suspected errant FOD.
