I have flown my newly built KF II about 30 hours and decided to use the
winter months to increase the tail area and eliminate the constant rudder
attention it requires. My plan is weld a new 4130 vert. stab leading edge
on to make it ten inches higher and 3 inches additional chord, then extend
the rudder 10 inches. Also to weld a curved half inch tube from the upper
fuse stringer tube to the leading edge tube for rigidity. Can anyone
provide advice or drawings of such a mod? I know from photos that some mod
I and II tails have been increased but don't have any specifics.
Also, what would be the optimum thickness for the stab to give maximum bite
on the air? I am thinking about 2 1/2 inches tapered down to leading edge
and also on leading edge of rudder with a fairing over the hinge to make
smooth transition.
All suggestions appreciated from "tinkeritis" guys. Merry Christmas
