Hello Everyone,

Happy New year to all the Lightning community. I hope everyone has a super year and lots of fun building and / or flying your Lightning. If you are still waiting to make the decision on a Lightning, this is the year to take that demo flight and get started. And if your Lightning is already flying, and if the weather tomorrow is good in your area of the country, continue the tradition of taking a "first flight of the New Year" on new years day.  I always try to fly every year on New Years day, the 4th of July and 17 December - the anniversary of the Wright Brother's first flight. Of course, you know me, if the weather is good, I fly about every day, but those three days are must fly days for me if the weather is good.

The January Issue of the Lightning Newsletter is now available on Jim Langley's web site:
http://www.jimslightning.com/

I don't think it is up on the Lighting sit yet as I have not heard from Pete or Nick that they have published it yet. Remember they have a fairly new commercial web editor (not sure if that is the right term) but apparently the new person (not at their SYI offices) has not yet updated their site with the January 2010 issue yet. Hopefully it soon will be, but for now, Jim had once again come through for us, so if you don't find the new newsletter at: http://www.flylightning.net, you can go to Jim's site. Thanks again, Jim for your continued great support.

The January 2010 issue has some great articles by some of you Lightning builders and flyers (Thanks for your continued support) but one totally new thing is the voting for Lightning of the Year for 2009 has officially started. So after you look at the photos of past Lightning of the Month from last year, send an email directly to me at N1BZRICH(at)AOL.COM (N1BZRICH(at)AOL.COM) and tell me which airplane you think should win. Actually, I already have several votes - I guess some people were checking to see if the new issue of the newsletter was posted and saw it on Jim's site. So as soon as you can, send me your vote for Lightning of the year.

We will plan of doing the same thing next year, so if your Lightning has not been a previous Lighting of the month, please send me some photos of your jet so that I have lots of pictures to chose from for the coming year.

Other items for January 2010 are an update on Germany's first Lightning, a new Lightning Dealer in Florida, and a possible future Lightning Dealership in Afghanistan. And once again, there are some great tech tips from current Lightning builders and flyers. Be sure to let me know what you think of this issue, That is how I try to keep it interesting and fun for everyone.

Blue Skies, Go Flying, and Have Fun,
Buz
