The shop working on my plane was wondering why paint was lifting off a newly painted prop. After inspecting the areas, they found intergranular corrosion on the prop blades. Given the unknown age of the prop and hub, it may make sense to replace the entire prop with an overhauled prop rather than just replacing the blades.
If anybody has an overhauled prop with logs, please contact me off list.
Thanks,
Craig W.

Craig,
Inter granular corrosion is not unheard of in the Chinese metal props. I've seen not less 3 cases of it. It has a lot to do with improper quenching at the mill during manufacture. If you don't have any corrosion in the hub, you just need to replace the blades. Check with Doug Sapp.

Hi Craig,
I agree with Jim on the prop problem. I am on my third set of blades. The I have now I got from Doug and then stripped them , and
sanded them , and refinished with epoxy paint . They might last a while. As Jim says, your hub is probably fine.

Craig, I have a set slightly used blades, but for some unknown reason both are curled about three inches on each tip! Will sell cheap, cheap. JB
