I have a KitFox classic 4 with a 2200.Is it necessary to have Ram air or can the air filter draw from inside the cowl attached directly to carb? I am aware the vacuum hose has to be attached to the air filter.I tried the Jabiru factory filter, Pete has been great, but there is not enough room to mount the ram air filter box.

The only issue with cowl air as I understand it is loss of power if the air is warmed by the engine, can't imagine it's much.
The Jab engine being a clean one should mean your filter with last Ok.
Or is there something else I forgot?

I have a model IV with a 2200 Jabiru, and I found room to install the
air box as delivered by Pete back in 2005. You might have a larger
air box, as they have changed them over the years. With my Rotec TBI,
when I pull on the "carb heat" the engine actually picks up 40-80
rpm, and the fuel flow meter show a gain in fuel used by about .2-.4
GPH. This could be caused by my particular installation.
Be aware that the Sonex-type planes use only an air filter, and no
air box with their Jabiru installs, so it must work.
If you DO go with the air cleaner only and no air box, how will you
deal with the carb heat issue?
