had an interesting breakdown this morning. tried to start engine as normal and after a short tug on the enricher knob, it came out in my hand. scratch one flight. i am not sure if my purchased model was built by design / plans but the cable comes through the firewall in the center just below the v shaped engine mount and above the top of the nose wheel tube. single cable into two (one to each carb) just at this point. last time out flyin the patch i traversed a rather steep / heavy drift on the way to the runway... felt a clunk through the rudder controls but didn't think much more of it . did some head scratching today to figure out why a broken cable.... found cable is strung/ mounted 3" above nw tube.... tube has travel marks up to 4"on it below the bottom guide. In several years this has never been an problem but with rougher ground conditions and possibly deteriorating nw suspension bungee the top of the tube sliced off the cable. Just a heads up for you guys still working on this stage.. this incursion area needs to be rethunk.
