Hi Wayne,
I don't remember all the photos I provided with that post, but what I did was this:
1)Bond the spider foam(type of foam) core in place. The edge of the foam was 1/2"-3/4" wide. There is also a bevel on this foam rib which will be explained later.
2) I layed a layer of fiber glass, I remember 8.5 ounce on the inside. This layer not only coverred the inside foam, but travelled up onto the sides of the van's tip. Of course, the inside corners of the foam/tip interface was also filleted(spelling?) with a mix of chopped glass, flox and micro. Anytime you bond fiberglass to foam you need to put a thin spread of micro down in the foam to insure you are not getting voids between the foam and the glass layer. The micro fills the tiny porosity in the foam surface.
3) The outside layer was two laminations of 5.7 oz. carbon cloth and indeed this layer would normally bond to only the edge of the tip, but since I bevelled the the foam at the foam/tip interface, there was a fillet of chopped glass, flox and micro that the carbon bonded to and to the tip edge. Of course, the carbon was also bonded to the foam rib just like in #2 above.
In the 1970 when Rutan and all those guys were building foam core composite planes, they realized the strength of the foam core sandwitch. It is extremely strong. That is what I did. Believe me, this rib is not going anywhere. Thank you for thinking about my safety and thinking it through. No one else called me on it and I guess, I should have explained it so no one else does part of what I did incorrectly.

John,
I am doing mine right now. I am glad you gave us some more details on the extra bonding surface area. Sometimes it is hard to tell with picture only. They look great. I just didn't want someone else to bond only to thin edge and foam. That is what this forum is all about. Safety first. Thanks for the nice reply.
