I'm about ready to install the airspeed pitot  and static port assembly to the wing on my 601XL. I've read some posts regarding the (in)accuracy of the static port, or airspeed pitot/static port combination. Is there consensus on whether the airspeed and static probes that come with the kit, or as described in the plans, is good to use? The placement is supposed to be on the outboard side of the rib that is the outside rib of the wing locker. Rib #5. This seem to be quite close to the fuselage to me. Maybe better to be placed out a couple more ribs?

That's where I put mine and stood it about 5.5" away from the wing skin.  Haven't flow it yet but did take into consideration the boundary layer of the moving air.  The folks at Dynon recommend 6" away from the wing surface.



The other placements are right from the Zenith prints.

The static ports will go on the sides of the fuselage, haven't decided where yet.

Thanks Ron. I don't have the Dynon AOA type. I have the dual combo airspeed pitot and static port setup that came with the kit.
