Hi all

I've been looking for a définitive description of the properties of all the
various types of pull rivets. I've scoured the Standard Aircraft Handbook,
Advisory Circular AC43.13, Vans builders guide and catalogue, ACS catalogue
and even googled pull rivets. I can find descriptions of the various types
but not the specific use of rivets that Vans lists on page 5-16 of the
builders guide.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Thx, Rick

Rick,

Just researched it a few weeks ago. Very difficult to find the exact specs. But try searching the part#'s, manufacturer's(Emhart, Gesipa, Cherry Textron) and the suppliers. Basically the ones with steel(most on list) or 7178 alum mandrels(AACQ's) are structural. The cherry CR-3212/13's are very strong and expensive! The AD-41-ABS has low tensile/shear strengths. I ordered extra pop rivets because I have come up short on two different occasions by about 5-10 rivets on the empennage so far. None were drilled out either. Also short on solid 426 3-6 for tailcone by 10 or so. I don't think their scales are correct at low weights and I did not take the time during inventory to count the rivets. I ordered most from AS&S and a few from Wick's. If they don't list them on their websites/catalog just ask. They actually had one that I thought I was going to have to order from Van's. I like the customer service, emails and QUICK shipping the same day from AC&S/Wicks vs. Van's. Working on emp attachment now.

Ditto in all respects.
I never found a definitive source for specs unlike almost all other
parts and supplies
Extras are good
Spruce is great - always in stock, shipped same day, USPS cheap and fast
for small stuff, UPS for everything else, asking for what's not online
works.

do not archive
