Gary, George, Other Florida Kolbs

We have been rained out most of the winter. Gary A and I have discussed starting our own Flyin Saturday March 6th at Arcadia, FL. How about it anyone interested????? This is totally dependant on weather. We will check on Friday and give a go/no go. We can reschedule as necessary but lets get together.

I'd consider flying down with a bit more notice.

It's about 465 sm, would take me at least a day to fly down, a day at the flyin, and a day to fly home.

Weather is always a factor, and has been terrible in the SE this winter.

Let me know your final plans and I'll see what I can work out to get there.

All right Bill we have our selves a FLY.... IN......

That's Me, Gary A, Bill T, Pete, Maybe Chuck X. So far looks like one the best flying days of the winter. How about some of you other south Florida flyers like Dave W, Mr. Richardson, Mike B

I will check in with Arcadia X06 tomorrow for logistics for food and fuel. I have a set and a half or tie downs (5) and I will load up my aux tank (6 gallons) with mid grade (premium if you ask) auto fuel for anyone that needs some.

I just seen where some are going to try and fly in Arcadia on the 6th. What time are they shooting for? I am about 60+ mi south east. There are members of the Low & Slow Club that live up there and may help with fuel.
P.S. Don't call me MR.  I am retired and not a banker or lawyer!

Gary/ All

Just talked to Arcadia.... Some hooligans caused some problems there a few weeks ago doing bomb drops etc. I assured her (Becky ) that we were upstanding citizens and wouldn't be doing anything but meeting to talk airplanes. shouldn't be a problem.

Any way.... No auto fuel or food close by. There is a taxi but that's it. Any thoughts?

Weather looks clear and dry but haven't found wind forecasts yet.

I'm planning to leave Venice 9-9:30 after the ice melts.

Brother Aman:
I'll have 8 gallons on board leaving here... will mix in a couple of gallons of 100 down there if need be...
Thankee anyway...a kind offer.

Could do with a bit less wind tomorrow... had westerlies of 15 or so, gusts over 20, a good bit of the afternoon today
in Brandon...

Not a safety issue, but one of comfort... don't misunderstand...been married 45 years, so mere pain is no
longer a planning factor...

On the other hand, volunteering to get the bat snot beat out of one for several hours whilst perched atop the
aeronautical equivalent of a 280 lb. wadded-up newspaper, falls somewhat outside the ideal geezer-model's parameters...
In the past, rough air has provoked this machine to demonstrate the capability for making one unexpectedly bite the
end off one's stogie....merely an inconvenience unless the 'ol swallow-reflex kicks in...

Will make a point of eating a robust breakfast...mebbe get the wingloading up a bit...

Looking forward to the day...

Beauford/Gang:

Hope you all have a fine flight and get together at Arcadia. Wish I could be there, but would have had to fly down today, visit tomorrow, and fly back to Alabama Sunday. Too soon for a senior citizen aviator.

You guys make it sound too much fun to resist. The winds are forecast for N 5-10 at Arcadia, and N 10-15 at PMP. If it stays about the same, I should arrive about 10:30.
See you there.

Brother Aman:

Will be launching from 48X (Airport Manatee) around 1000hrs, or as soon thereafter as I can verify that
most of the major Kolb components are present. You would be welcome if you were to drop by.

I have a knee-mounted radio which is battery operated and can operate continuously for up to 15 or 20 minutes as long as
it is not abused by attempts to transmit. Will listen on 122.850 enroute. Call is N173BW.

Cannot shake this image in my mind of an airplane being drafted by a forklift...

See you tomorrow...

Hey guys sounds great.

The flight briefers are calling for low level winds of 8kts somewhere out of 20-40 degrees at least till noon.

The weather channel is guessing a bit more so?

If this things don't change a bunch I will be there waiting for you all. Doesn't sound like anyone needs fuel.

Hi All

We had a great flyin today. We had five Kolbs show up. Four MKIIIs and one Firefly. It was neat seeing Steven Greens old MKIIIC flying in the good hands of Dave W. To everyone it was again fun putting faces with people we have seen on the list. Good meeting you all. I didn't have my camera along so please post photos when you get a chance. Not bad for a last minute flyin.

We even got Beauford out on a cross country. Who knows he may pick up the cross country flame from John H.
