Stall speed is lower without the weight of an engine or empennage.
40-knot gust was enough to induce a backflip.

Bridgeport, Conn. Wind alone. That, plus I think the guy used kite string
for tie-down lines. It happened about 4PM (2100Z). There is a gap in the
weather reporting at BDR for a few hours because of a power outage, but it
was fairly similar to White Plains (HPN), 27 NM away.
