Just when I was beginning to weigh the options of VP200 or
conventional breakers, or VP100, VP goes and drops the VP100 and comes
out with new product, the VPX, which does much of what the VP200 does,
without the display, using the EFIS of choice. I don't know if many
have discovered this yet. It appears to play with AFS and GRT, but not
Dynon Skyview at this point. Price point is very attractive, at $1800
for unit, 400 for harness. So back to studying documents and more
decisions. Of course it also muddles the EFIS decision tree.

I've talked to Dynon about it and they said that if enough people tell them they want it, they will support it. Those who are planning SkyView and considering VP-X, flood Dynon with calls asking them to support it. For a budget panel, I think that's a great combination.

I'd like to see it attach to the lower-end Dynon's.
I'd like to have the D-6 for a backup instrumentation. But it would be
really cool to use that display for your electrical, but then have it as
a backup EFIS in case you need it.
I have no clue if there's even a port on the D-6 to do that, but the
idea is pretty cool.

Additionally, let Dynon know if the VP-200 is part of your stack as that
helps a consumer driven company prioritize what is top of the list or not.
They are currently working on the VP-200 integration BTW.
Marc's new product looks great. I expect that SkyView will interface with it
as soon as we can. I'd like to know how many people are planning to install
the VP-X. If you email me, please include how soon you plan to install it.
I'd also be interested in know which model RV, and whether you are building
new or retrofitting.
Thanks,
Robert

Perry,
I'm afraid that will not happen.
The D6 neither I guess the other D series will have the necessary space
for further program code to interface with the VP-X the Skyview series
is the only hardware tehy have which will be capable.

I am sure the D-6 won't offer it, because the D-6 is made specifically to be a stand-alone EFIS, that doesn't even integrate with other Dynon units. The D100-D180 products will probably not offer that option either because of the complexity of the interface with VP as well as the desire for Dynon to encourage people into the SkyView system. I don't see any reason why a single small-screen SkyView couldn't be a backup and also the VP interface, although I assume the sharing of Engine Data would be a big part of the SkyView-VP interface, so you would need to have the SkyView be your engine monitor, probably.

Seems to me the choice is between VP-200 or VP-X with Skyview. The
rest of Dyon products are either going obsolete or for backup.
Certainly VP-X is a lot cheaper, but VP-200 does a fair amount more.
Biggest issue is getting engine monitoring to share info.
