My friend was awoken by the police yesterday morning (3-20-2010). A small plane had landed in the field by his house. No casualties reported. Here is what he posted:

"Woke up yesterday to the cops banging on the door, two cop cars two fire trucks and one ambulance in my driveway, ohh and this in the field beside the house.

No one hurt, six hours experience on the pilot, his homemade handy work----lost all his oil and converted into glider, ducked under the power lines and hit the fence."

Appears that it was not a bad landing. Anyone you walk away form is a good
landing. If you can reuse the airplane it is a great landing.

Bad day maybe - far from a bad landing. I'd say under the circumstances a great landing.

Good effort to the pilot...no one died and it looks like the aircraft is not that badly damaged (relatively - nose gear and firewall replacement?).

Yes It was a good Landing and damage to the aircraft looks minimal
BUT!!!!!!

I look like this aircraft was flying without the mod kit.. The "T" shaped pieces are not visible on the fuselage sides above the wing spar.

I'm concerned that people not doing the mod kit are going to cause bad things for the fleet, like higher insurance and the like

About the math/physics... I was sure you were going to check it Smile Smile

Got the Upgrade kit here! Starting to work this week.

Larry, At first, I was thinking the same thing... but just because it does not have the factory suggested kit, does not mean that it was not modified, look what Piper did. As it stands now, my airplane will not have the side "T"s.

Has anyone else looked over the math/physics cited in the video recently posted to rebut the FAA report?

P.S. Just this morning I learned I was 1 of only 23 female 2010 U.S. Physics Team semi-finalists (+ 273 males = 296 total).

For a few dollars I can arrange the old ' Tonya Harding/ Nancy Karrigan/ Jeff Gahoullie thing. One baseball bat can neutralize those other 22 girls . < GGGGGGGGGGGGG>

Pilot did a nice job in that situation.

He may have already had his airworthiness certificate before all the media hysteria. So it's his decision. Will be interesting to see what develops.

Congratulations from an aging fizzelist! That stuff isn't easy, so what you did
is all the more impressive.

If the owner had done the upgrade but not put the "t" on the side skin would there not still be an additional line of A5 rivets for the reinforced forward spar upright?

SEXIST!

Oh, wait... I would rather LQQK at 24 girls than 24 guys.
