We put ours over the pax’s shoulder on the crossbeam that supports the seat backs. (towards each end) Seemed like a good spot to keep things out of the way. Of course, we haven’t flown any pax yet . . .
We have successfully tested the audio system, with a couple selector switches, so the front seats can hear the in-dash MP3 player or the front stereo input jack, while the back seaters can listen to either their rear stereo input jack or whatever the front seats are listening to.

Tim, what audio panel are you using? A lesson learned for me (just fixed during this year’s inspection), if you are using a PS8000, there is separate “mute” line for the passengers that needs to be wired so that they can use the “Karaoke” mode (MP3 does not fade out when something comes over the radio or intercom). The front panel mute button only works for the crew.

For flying music enthusiasts, the combination of a Bose QC headphone with the Uflymike adapter www.uflymike.com makes a wonderful headset to also listen to music. The fidelity is so clear that muting of music at a moderate level isn't even necessary.
Also, the adapter has its own music jack for someone into their own music source.
The headset runs on a single AAA battery that lasts for several days of continuous use.

If you have a PMA-8000 audio panel from PS engineering, there are several options regarding rear seat muting of the music when someone speaks on the intercom or radio:
1. Wire an external "Karokee" switch, as described above;
2. At the rear, wire the mute control to the "Aux" switch control line, if you're not using it for DME or something else. Now the Aux switch is the rear Karokee switch;
3. Ground the rear wire, leaving the rear seats' music always on.

Just don't use them as the pilot....if the battery dies,
you get nothing. For passengers, great.

This (pilot hears nothing if battery dies) reminds me of the fail-safe screw up on the original Garmin audio panels. They brought the fail safe connection to the ring, not tip, connection, on the pilot's headset. So if the pilot was using mono headsets, the fail-safe didn't work!

I am sensitive to that comment because it caused a bruhaha in the airline world. The smart aleck answer to that is if you run out of gas, your airplane dies. It takes a little planning, but it is super simple.
I've used the Ufly for over five years full time. I pop in a new battery at the start of every trip and it lasts a whole four day, plus the odd iphone movie in the hotel. It starts blinking at about three hours of use time to go, and making a clicking noise at about half an hour. It is quite noticeable when it does die. It uses a single AAA. I've seen guys with other headsets go through new sets of batteries in a single day.
Finally, when Mike got it TSO'd, it now comes with a tiny ear bud that you can slip in your ear that works fine without battery power. Before that, some guys worried about the battery dying would just have the overhead speaker on low which you can also hear great if the battery dies. I know a bunch of guys who love these things and nobody has had an issue with the battery dying. The last Fed to give me an enroute check wore one and swore by it.

I am totally in agreement with Myron on this issue. I used my Uflymike for my last three or four years as a gainfully employed pilot and have continued to use them in my RV-10 as a retired airport bum. Be disciplined about putting in a new battery on some kind of schedule and be aware of the warnings you get when the battery is getting low, and it is great. Best headset combo I have ever used in 40+ years of flying.
