OK, sorry to ruffle the down feathers on my Yakkista friends. I really don't want to see a get together without them. Just a race and subsequent "debrief" would be a waste of expensive Avgas without ancillary activities. Activities like All Red Star has...but such event seems more like "All Left Coast Red Star".

Perhaps something more centralized at a time and place where severe weather is not the expected forecast. Any suggestions?

As far a pure speed goes, if all I wanted in an airplane was speed, I could build another Cassutt with a big motor. Point is, CJ's (and Yaks) are fun airplanes and a little competition sweetens the fun. Just flying formation gets old after a while.

No I'm not interested in big bets, $100 each in the pot is plenty. I'll probably end up spending $600 in gas just to get there and back. I Expect to get beat so Pappy, save your money for beer and Avgas. But, how you put a price on Bragging Rights and Glory??

No way would Reno want us, CJ's/Yaks are too slow, too small and especially too quiet to be crowd pleasers, even on the short course.

One other point...Doug, I'm talking about the CJ-6, not a pumped up -5. Apples to Apples and Oranges to Oranges.

No Craig, I most likely wont live long enough to finish my 5 the way I'm going-- I have been at it 6 + years now, the flower business in the toilet does not lend it'self to lots of time off.  But that business is about closed now so I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

My question was/is strictly limited to CJ6's, no matter what the hp, no matter what the mods, you will race with no excuses,  winner takes all.  Correct?  Or are there restrictions?  as you say "inquiring minds want to know"

Craig,

Thanks for clearing that up.
Now I will have the engineer stop crunching numbers to mount a
J85-GE-21B under my Yak-52.
It would have been interesting when I kicked in the Afterburner!

Laterrrrrr

Man, that was the best answer YET John!

Mark

P.s. Craig... Apples to Apples is a CJ to a CJ ... And a YAK to a YAK.
I think you have opened things up beyond that correct? ??

P.p.s. Reno: Wait a minute... It's not even worth asking? And you now
only want to put $100 into the pot? Man, I just spent $500 on brake
parts for my UTVA-66. Speed costs money and speed is not cheap. I have
no dog in this fight, but if I did, if I thought I had something worth
bringing, I'd put 2 grand in the pot without blinking an eye. Seriously,
at the very minimum $1000. Damn, I burn that much fuel in a MONTH.
Craig... Come on now.

P.p.p.s. I've got another bad idea. Let's start a side-bet ... Who's
going to be the bookie?
