I'm really not entirely sure what any of this has to do with an electrical system in an airplane and I've no doubt this is of tremendous to those of you discussing it, but would you all mind getting a chat room or another venue where you can whack away at each other without boring the holy crap out of the rest of us.

Cheers,
Rick Girard

My feelings precisely. The record needed to be set straight. Now, shall we get back to electro whizzies as Bob N would say.

Delete key. Delete key. Delete key.

Let people say what they want. We don’t have to read it all, any more than we have to watch everything on TV or listen to everything on the radio or read the entire newspaper. Someone posted a link to the accident report, which changed my mind about what I thought I knew about JFK Jr’s accident.
Listen selectively, please. Don’t censor. This thread too will pass.

Yes, you can use the delete key, I do all the time. The problem is that the subject title never gets changed to reflect the content so you have a few people engaged in the beginnings of a flame war while Bob continues to discuss real issues under the same heading.  It isn't censorship to ask people to maintain decorum and use the forum for it's declared intent IMHO.

Sometimes even a flame war can enlighten someone.
If someone learned something useful about flying from the
NTSB report I posted, then I am satisfied I did some good.

It might even be more useful than the 300th request for Bob's
blessing a particular brand of nut or wire Wink

Rick,

I agree with Terry - if something bores you, then don't read it.  I have no idea what the thread you're talking about says because I have bothered to read it.

Oh no - have we started another thread that is boring people? I hope they do selective reading.

I'm sorry, I don't get it. There are literally thousands of places on the web to talk about anything under the sun. This forum is about aircraft electrical systems. A finely focused purpose that provides a real service. My objections are two fold. One, the material had absolutely nothing to do with electrical systems. Two, the comments were just piled up on a topic already under discussion. It's not as simple as just hitting the delete key unless you're willing to throw out the pepper with the fly poop?
Where do you draw the line? Porn? Hate Groups? Islamic terrorists? Or do we just have to tolerate small minds who want to start an insult war to satisfy God knows what? What is wrong with having the manners to take non forum discussions off list or to another more appropriate group, or better yet, communicate directly with your adversary and leave the aeroelectric forum for it's intended purpose?

Nothing.
Delegating manners (much like common sense) is the difficult part.
Getting those same people to add 'do not archive' to their comments would mean forum searches in the future would not have to grind through their "worthless" comments. Our comments likely fall into the 'do not archive' category.

My personal wish would be that people would stop wasting my time with
worthless discussions about wasting my time. I know THAT is a waste of
time. The original discussion may or may not have had merit, but I am
capable of making that decision for myself.
