Has anyone made the cabin floor 7F8-8 and 7F8-7 as 1 piece?

I am at the stage of cutting out the forward fuselage floor 7F8-8 and the rear floor 7F8-7 and was considering cutting one large piece without a join. Except that one is .025 and the other .016 is there any reason these 2 pieces couldn't be cut as 1 part? It would be stronger without the join and the weight penalty less than a few ounces. Not having built a 701 before I was wondering if there is any reason this could not be done. It seems too simple that nobody has done it before??

PROBABLY the reason it's two pieces is BECAUSE Chris COULD save a few ounces 

here. He spent HOURS figuring it out,  do what you want but if I can save a 

few ounces in 50 different places that I don't have to drag around for the 

life of the airplane, sign me up.

As others have pointed out here, there may be more to this than meets the eye.  in my plans it mentions a doubler that has to go on this seam if you ever plan on flying fron floats.  Perhaps all you need to do to make up any difference in strength is to increase the size of that doubler a bit.  I would guess Caleb would be the guy to talk to at Zenith.  He would likely know the answer to this question.

Simple,  you will easy add a pound with just a few ounces at a time...  

  

 Two advices: 1.-  follow the plans.  2.-  Only  add lightness and simplicity yo your airplane.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate the need for weight reduction but by using a join to go from .025 to .016 the weight saving is only 4 oz. I had planed on using .032 for both the front and rear floor. This would cost me a total of 20 oz. which I am willing to pay in order to have a little extra between my butt and feet if I ever have to use our spruce to break a forced landing in the trees.  As for strength, the current setup does have .041 for 18 mm along the rivet line but this is of little value once the skin is cut. In my opinion, one continuous floor of .032 would be much stronger than the joined .016 and .025. if there are no other issues with building it this way.
