I'm working on the 601 upgrade to the wings. I've removed the required section of of top flange in preparation to install the heavier top "L" extrusion. The original solid rivets were installed from the rear, with the shop head on the forward side of the spar. I can more easily install the replacement rivets from the front side with the shop head on the back side against the new extrusion. Does anyone know if this is acceptable? It seems to me that it shouldn't make any difference.

Lynn,

That's how they are installed in the factory built planes, shop head toward the rear of the wing.

I did mine just like you with the shop head forward and needed more cork to protect the fuel tank. When I do mine I will face all the replacement spar rivets with the shop heads towards the rear.

If you are using a bucking bar, 4 to 5 lbs is the magic number using a 3x gun.
