My DAR is requesting an equipment list with stations and weights as part of my POH. Has anyone created one for the -10?

Yep, one of the requirements. I created a separate one, not in my POH.
Sorry I do not have it here at work, I will post it tonight.....if I get
home at a decent hour.

Just out of curiosity, wasn't it resolved previously that a POH isn't
required. I've been through the new airplane inspection thing 5 times and
never had to produce a POH or an equipment list with stations and weights???

Maybe I'm misinformed but I thought all that is required in the a/c is:

A-Airworthiness certificate
R-Registration
R-Radio License(no longer required)
O-Operating Limitations
W-Weight & Balance

So I'm kinda with Dave here.... Maybe we don't understand what you mean by equipment list..... My w&b is all fixed except fuel, oil, passengers, and baggage. In my mind the 'equipment' is a fixed part of the airframe and is incorporated within the fixed part of the airframe w&b..... What are we missing?

Jack up the airplane
Put the scales under the wheels
Lower the airplane…..

Just joking J

I think the equipment list was identified in my trusty EAA certification package. So I did one and my DAR asked me for it. I could be wrong and only my DAR asked me for one……..

When I get home tonight, I will look back and see if I can find a reference…..

As far as a POH. I think the certified A/C need to have one to meet the Operating Limitations requirement. We get the limitations through our Airworthiness Certificate….pink slip with operating limitations attached.

But no real expert on this…..just taking a break from work. J

Umm, take a look here http://www.vansaircraft.com/pdf/RV10wb.pdf for an example. Once you’ve established the empty weight and CG, it is easy to figure out the loaded CG based on pax and fuel. You do need to redo the empty CG if your equipment changes, but you certainly do not need an equipment list (along with datum references) to have a completely valid weight and balance for both empty and loaded conditions.

Just my $0.02 worth…

To complicate things, I found in FAR 91.203 the requirement to have an airworthiness certificate and registration, and my operating limitations letter says it must be carried on board, but I can’t find anything regarding weight and balance in my search of FAR/AIM although I remember my ARROW acronym from my youth. No mention of any kind of manuals at all except for part 135 ops and even that’s not a POH.

Isn’t weight and balance an operating limitation. In certified airplanes it is found in the POH, but not including in our operating limitations letter.

Again, no expert.

I found this reference for the Equipment list……along with the original e-mail from my DAR asking me for one and providing an example to use. Go to page 7 in the attached reference.

I tried to send an example of my equipment list (MS Word), but forgot you can not send word attachments to the list. I stripped the text out and put it in this message.

Great info Rene, thanks. However, I can’t help but wonder where some of these requirements the DARs require come from. For example, in addition to the equipment list, your guy also requires the ‘beginning draft of a Pilot’s Operating Handbook’, pretty nebulous and apparently not a FAA requirement. Sure seems like there should be a consistent answer on what’s required. I have no issue with additional recommendations, but they shouldn’t affect the inspection.

Looks like you have a great EAA chapter, I’m envious.

I just had my plane inspected by the FAA (MIDO) from Seattle.

They did not require an equipment list or a POH.

There were two inspectors and the process took 5 hours. They checked every connection in the engine. Look through every access panel. In the end just a couple of items that I adjusted while they were there and they issued the Special Airworthiness Certificate.

What they wanted to see was exactly what the EAA checklist said you would need. So I would recommend that guide as a good resource. Keep copies of everything you send in as they did ask to see information that was sent to get the registration number for the plane.

There is no requirement for a equipment list or POH that I can find or that they requested.

I have copies of the forms and documents they sent if anyone is interested. Just drop me a note to my email and I will send you copies.

Subject: RE: Re: Equipment list

To complicate things, I found in FAR 91.203 the requirement to have an airworthiness certificate and registration, and my operating limitations letter says it must be carried on board, but I can’t find anything regarding weight and balance in my search of FAR/AIM although I remember my ARROW acronym from my youth. No mention of any kind of manuals at all except for part 135 ops and even that’s not a POH.

FWIW,

Marcus

I would love to take credit….but not my chapter. We have a great chapter in Ogden……..

My DAR did not care about the POH…..

Isn’t weight and balance an operating limitation. In certified airplanes it is found in the POH, but not including in our operating limitations letter.

Again, no expert.
