Hi Pete--

What you're seeing is a bit of skin compression caused by riveting at
fuselage frames. Looks pretty typical to me. You've also got rivet dimples
or countersinks at the frames and stringers and spot welds. Most CJ's are
riveted, but some had spot welding like yours. Saves weight and labor but
is prone to intergranular corrosion (see http://en.wikipedia
org/wiki/Intergranular_corrosion) at the welds and shows up as swelling
around the welds, kind of like what you're seeing at the rivet heads, but
much more severe. I've seen a couple of welded CJ's that were pretty ugly..


So, I'd get in there and take a good look and do a little anti-corrosion
proofing. Doesn't look bent to me, but watch out for the aluminum worm.
