SNIP >>>>Since my RV-6A is mostly polished, I applied the JC Whitney stainless steel tape
on the wing flaps perceiving the choice as more cosmetically pleasing than the
UHMW alternative and its translucent look that tends to stand out. The S.S.
tape readily accepts polishing and has performed very well except that after
several years, the edges are beginning to lift in a few places.<<<<SNIP
The UHMW tape is woefully inferior to paint protection film which never yellows, won't peel up, and is easily removable up to many years later with no paint damage. I've used it for years and like it enough that we carry it on our web store. It is perfect for the flaps and many other areas of your RV.
