Does anyone remember what front tire make came with
the kit? I've been happy with the Desser HP retreads
on the mains, and my nose tire is going strong, but I
want to buy a spare. I figure since it's worked good
so far I may just buy the same thing again.

My kit came with "Aero Classic" tires, both nose and mains.

You don't happen to remember if they're the Aero-classic
"Vintage" 6-ply or other, do you? I see the Vintage
has the tread pattern like mine, whereas the
6-ply "Light Sport" is way cheaper but doesn't have the
same tread. I figure the 500-6 6-ply LSA tire
would probably be ok on the nose, considering it's
for the mains on LSA's, just like Van's does with the
10....the nose tire is the same as the 2-place RV's
mains. I'm not sure if Van's consistently sells the
same model of tire through all delivery dates, but the
LSA is $37 and the Vintage is $73 from Desser...which is
where I've always got my tires. Van's sells one
in the 50's but doesn't specify which one.

I'm surprised you would have any need for a nose tire. They usually
last 2-3 times as long as mains. In 12 years of flying my Mooney, I've
replaced nose tire 1 time, on 3rd set of mains.

I don't need it yet...it could go another couple hundred hours if I do
well. But as the center is wearing I'm going to keep it on hand this
summer in case it gets down there a ways, and then I'm going to
replace it early brefore my next out-of-USA trip. My old will be a
good spare if I keep it in a big ziploc with low oxygen levels. I
like spares. So I'm guessing the nose tire wouldn't have a big
problem making 800-1000 hours. I'm getting about 300-400 per set of
mains so your estimate is about right. I just don't want to go
international on less-improved strips with tires that aren't as thick
as they could be.
