I'm currently buying a Classic IV with a Jabiru engine mount (haven't got it yet for it is still in the States - looking for a way to get it overhere).
Does any of you have any experience on that combination?
Any information would be great, for there isn't any from Jabiru Australia nor SkyCraft's
tx in advance,

Have a 2200 on a classic four. Cruise nicely at 80mph. Will go above 100 mph. At 70-80mph 2 3/4 US gal hr.Lift off one person on pavement about 200 feet. Less in winter.Fun plane but be alert on landings.

I also have the Jabiru 2200 on a Mod. four. I get about the same performance as I did with the Rotax 582 with just a bit higher speeds, around 80-85 mph cruise. The largest difference was going from a three blade prop on the 582 to a two blade prop on the Jabiru. When I pulled the power back on the 582 I would really slow down. With the jabiru the plane seems to want to float much more.

Hans-
I'll just post numbers from a flight today with my Jabi-fox/ Kit-a-roo.
**********
Today I answered a guy (privately) who asked about the TBI on my
plane and if I had to constantly adjust it, or could I just set it to
lean of peak (or just an economy setting) and forget it.
So for kicks, I went for a 2.4 hour, 234 mile flight and just set the
engine to where it ran well, and well lean of peak. As you can see, I
averaged about 100 mph, went around a larger than 50-miles-per-side
square, and the fuel flow meter looked like it was stuck on 2.9 gph,
upping 4 or 5 times to 3.0, and about the same number of dips to 2.8.
************
This is using a Rotec TBI, but similar numbers have been reported
using the Bing carb that comes with the engine. The benefit of using
the TBI is to be able to set the mixture "lean of peak EGT", which
you'll hear more about as the years go on and people become educated
about it.

Hello Hans,
I have changed my 582 for a Jabiru 2200 a few years ago, on my Kitfox III. Since then, I have been flying roughly 350 problem-free hours. I like the engine although I am sure Rotax engines are good too!
