John- I know about the leg, but how much damage to the hand? I don't recall a damage report on it.

Compression fracture little finger right hand.

Thus, reduced to one usable hand and foot. Not enough to fly a Kolb.

Another reason for punctuation and other errors. Typing with one finger and a load pain killers.

Of all the crashes in airplanes, mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and atv's, this freak accident finally got me, but it took 71 years to do. Throwing in two years of combat in VN, SF then flying gun ships, this is my first cast.

I'm looking forward to a lot more enjoyment flying and traveling in my mkIII before I hang up my hat. I should be back in the cockpit by 1 Sep.

John, do what I did every time I was laid up. Keep flexing muscles- isometrics, they used to call it.  After my accident, 16 weeks later I just got up and walked. A little stiff and sore, but didn't need rehab because of all the cheating.  The worst time was when I was in a cast and lost all the meat on one foot. Took quite a while to come back from that one. That, and the time they operated for carpal tunnel on both hands at once. Fun time in the bathroom with that one!
You can still drive the Kolb with an elbow and your knees.  Doug Bader showed how to do without both legs.
