Has anyone any suggestions for what to cover the cockpit walls and console with - foam backed leather or vynnl maybe?
I suppose memory foam is the thing to use for the seats and seat backs - maybe 2-3 inches for seat and 1" for back, does that sound right?

Regards Graeme

Someone had mentioned to me to look at trunk (boot in the UK) lining material, avaialable at auto or truck supply stores. It can be glued in quite easily. For my plane, I intend to paint the interior initially. Seats -- can't help you, I still need to cross that bridge. My intent is to have some fairly simple cushions made and velcro them in. My wife is short, so we will have them made for her from two different thicknesses.

one thing with the memory foam, it is quite heavy, kingsley in australia
showed me his latex memory foam seat base cushions and they must have weighed
about 15kg, unless you are refering to different foam

I just weighed my cushions...seat back cushion = 0.9 pounds; seat cushion = 3.75 pounds (each (obviously uncovered)...total: 9.2 pounds.
Seat backs are 1" regular foam wrapped around 2 sticks of left over memory foam for lumbar support + regular foam wedges. Seat cushion is 1" hi dens memory foam (green) + 1" less dens memory foam (blue) + reg foam wedges. For better thigh support, seat cushion extends about 4" fwd of vertical CM diaphragm . The green foam is so-called "crash foam"...a real plus IMO. Note, in photo, back cushions are temporarily propped up w/ some pink rigid foam blocks; covering will include velcro straps down the rear face of the raised portion of the CM.
Though I've yet to spend hours on end just sitting and making airplane noises...they do seem comfy.

Hi Graeme

You may find some useful info about Factory interior here:

After adding lumbar support and making adjustments, fit is OK and seems comfortable (not yet flying).

Craig,

It is obviously too long since you visited me. All my cushions as supplied by Oregon Aero weigh a total of 5 kg (11 lbs) The extra 10kg you speak of is probably about right for the amount that "I" am too heavy!!

Cheers
Kingsley

Do not archive.
