I'm looking for a source for 4 gauge battery cable (red and black). I could use welding cable. B&C appears to only sell pre-made, terminated lengths. WayTek has a minimum of 100 ft. SteinAir doesn't list any. Many list 4 gauge Tefzel but that isn't what I want. I could buy a pair of jumper cables but I'm not certain on the quality and composition of the insulation.

Any leads?

Grainger has the battery cable you are looking for, but only black. I think it comes in a box with 25' of cable.

Hi Craig,

I got some at the local hardware store. They were happy to cut it and sell by the foot. They also had copper crimp terminals that I used, but I had to make my own crimp dies.

I'm sure if you called B and C they'd sell it to you without the ends. I priced it and by the time I would have bought the right crimper it would have cost me more to fabricate them myself so it was a no brainer for my situation... Granted yours may be different, but I was and am happy with what B and C provided.

I'll give them a call. The problem is I don't know where my battery will end
up (W&B adjustments). But I can't calculate W&B until the wings are on and
I'm wiring the rest now. So I want to order enough to reach to the tail of
my 701. But the battery could end up behind the passenger seat.

Craig-
I bought raw two color welding cable from a local electrical supply house, crimped the ends (Purchased from Advance Auto) using my NicoPress tool, soldered the gaps and slid a neoprene boot (ACS) over each end. Sounds like a lot of work but it was actually one of the easiest jobs I've had.

Thanks for all the feedback on battery cables. For various reasons (like working in California and flying home to Utah where the plane is on some weekends) it was best to order on-line. I found a source of welding cable with a reasonable minimum length and good price: www.delcity.net. I will be crimping and soldering the lugs myself as I have the tools.
