What have most folks done for weighing their airplane? Hire some scales or other alternatives?

Many EAA chapters have a set of race car scales that can be borrowed. This is really the only way to do it. Make sure you have the plane level.

Weigh yourself... the step off the scales, pick up the plane, then step back on the scales.

Sorry guys, it must be me just trying to get used to the Texas heat.

I borrowed a set from my A&P. I thought that was real nice. When I returned them he gave me a bill for $90. It turns out that's his fee for doing a weight and balance. No big deal really, I suppose I can't complain. You need to have a good weight and balance before you fly.
