Recently while flying my Kitfox II 582 I encountered flaperon flutter and want any information related to that. I was making steep turns on a gusty hot day. As I rolled out, the stick started shaking and I could see the flaperons oscillate about 8-10 times per second. The flutter was transmitted thru the controls to the other side. The outer wing was flapping like a bird. I reduced power and slowed down and the flutter stopped. I have the standard bobweights installed on the outer ends as plans call for.

Anyone else experienced this? I was making about 60 mph when it happened. There is no noticeable slack in the controls, and the flaps are not loose on the shaft.

Ed, I had a similar problem with my Kitfox II 582. It happened when I encountered updrafts at the edge of a cliff. I did 2 things to stop the flutter. I went through the many links in the flaperon system and took out all of the slop. It was a very small amount of slop but still there. The second thing and I think the most important thing I did was make new bearing halves at the turtledeck/fuselage joint where the flaperon shaft exits the fuselage. I haven't had any flutter since.
