So far I've only done one wing so far so I'm an expert! Here's how I did th 6 holes:
I clamped the doubler very tightly to the spar ensuring it can't move when I pound on it. I then used a transfer punch to make some deep punch marks (like shown in the photo manual). I used a Corvair exhaust log and a block of wood to keep it in place while I whacked the transfer punch. I used a #40 bit, then #30, then #12, and 1/4 in drill bits on a drill press. I finished with the ream in a hand drill on the bench. If I had it to do over again, I would do one hole at a time, using a 5/16 bolt to hold each hole in alignment while I punched and opened up the next hole. I did all 6 holes at once, and at the end I only had one hole that was too snug so I gently passed the ream through the old holes and into the new doubler. Each hole now is nice and snug, and I can push in the bolts without pounding them in.
