How exact is the magneto RPM drop in a Housai? The literature states the maximum magneto drop is 60RPM. I recently installed a digital tachometer in my CJ. I perform the mag check at 1860 RPM and I’m getting a consistent 90 RPM drop in both magnetos. My assumption is the tach is providing accurate data. The engine runs fine…everything is within published specifications.
With the mechanical tachometer, the drop was not as accurately measureable. I’m a low time CJ driver. Just trying to do it right.
Thanks

Before rushing into anything check the magneto timing, it may be retarded. Also I don't know how one was to determine 60 RPM with the original tach, was kind of a guess.

Don't forget, the correct point gap (.25 - .35 MM or .010 - .014) affects timing. Check/set the point gap first, then check/set the timing.
