All,
The July 2010 issue of the Lightning Newsletter is now posted on at least two of the websites that carry our newsletters. Both Ryan of Green Landings and Jim Langley have the newest issue posted. I have not heard yet from the factory guys whether it is posted on their site or not, but sometimes their commercial web guy is not the quickest to respond to their changes to the official Lightning site. As always, it is my goal to have each new newsletter available to our readers no later than the first day of each month, so that is why I am sending this out even though it may not be posted on all websites yet. And as a reminder for next month, I'll be at Oshkosh until at least 1 August, so the August issue will be several days late since I will need to get home, then finalize that issue with all the OSH photos.
For now, look for the new July issue at Jim Langley's site or on the Green Landings site:
http://www.greenlandings.com/
http://www.jimslightning.com/
Of course the factory site is:
http://www.flylightning.net/
New this month, I also sent the newsletter to Max at Moonshine Aviation in Florida to post on their site, but have not heard from him or Olena as to whether the newsletter is posted there yet.
http://www.moonshineaviation.com
In the future, when Philip Beeson has his new Florida Lightning Squadron website ready, I will also be sending him a copy of each newsletter to post.
Now for a few words on this issue. First off, there is a late breaking Safety Bulletin on Matco wheels that was added to this issue at the last moment. Be sure to look for that and see if it covers your Lightning's wheels.
Featured in this issue is Greg Crouchley's Lightning of the Month as well as a great write up by Greg on building his Lightning. Another great article is by the Northeast Lightning dealer, Dave Jalanti on his demo Lightning. Dave now has his Lightning certified as the very first ELSA LS-1 Lightning and the first part of his two part article on this process is in this issue.
Also look for updates from the factory, other interesting articles from Lightning builders and flyers, some other reader feedback, tech tips, and as usual, a flight safety article. And if you have ever wondered how some squirrels can fly and others can not, the Skunk works section will show you the difference between flying squirrels and regular non-flying ones.
As always, I am requesting feedback on the newsletter. I depend on you for content, article suggestions, and on your comments for improvement. That is why I am always pleading for your feedback and comments. Therefore, if you don't send a comment on this month's newsletter, the Easter bunny, tooth fairy, and Santa will not be visiting you this coming year. They are all strong supporters of the Lightning and out newsletter. At least two of them have switched their old mode of transportation and are now flying a Lightning. Not sure yet if Nick wants to sell a Lightning to a fairy. Did I really say that???
One final thought, with the 4th of July weekend upon us, be sure to celebrate the 4th by going flying. It is a great way to honor the holiday by expressing one of our great freedoms - the freedom of flight. Take someone with you to share your love of aviation.
Blue Skies and happy flying,
Buz Rich

Hi Buz,
Great read, as always. I'm second in line to use the hammock that we've set up in the hangar for those "too-much-thermals-around-midday" hours, and guess what I'll be reading there.
The Newsletter and the Index are on the www.moonshineaviation.com website, and I'll get a proper separate section for all the back issues there sometime in the near future.
Once again, thanks a lot!
All the best,
Max
