Cliff,
It depends on how much modification you want to do. I’m working on a Bladder to replace the main and aux in the fuselage. You will have to do some sheet metal work and some re-pluming to make it happen though. The total volume is estimated at 52 gal. I do not plan to tackle this project until this winter though. Will keep updated as it progresses. The bladder will have an acro header tank built into it or I will use a 5 gal header tank from a 52. Have not decided that yet. The existing manifold, overpressure return tanks, primer lines, and vent lines are all well placed/designed so I’m not inclined to want to change them. A couple of aeronautical engineers I know are looking a
G loads on the spar and the bulkheads the box to house the bladder will sit in. A couple of access doors will need to installed also to maintain access to the brake differential valve mounted behind to the front of the spar box behind the Aux tank. So far all that have looked at it say it can be done but I am not ready to start nibbling my aluminum bulkheads yet.

You could also have the extra wing tanks, but that’s a work to be done by specialists (in Europe, we go to Lithuania for that).

Hey Berry,
I started to do exactly that when I had my tanks out to fix a prop governor
cable issue. After doing a cardboard cutout of the space and running the
derivation I discovered I could get 52 gallons of fuel. In that space. It
will take some sheet metal modification to create the D shaped box to
support the bladder. A few more details to work out and like I said I am not
starting that until this winter. Would like to keep flying for now. Besides,
it is hot a hell in my hanger now. Not much fun working with sweat in your
eyes constantly.
