XIO took to the air Friday afternoon (16th July) for its maiden flight around Archerfield, Brisbane Australia.
In compliance with its special ops certification, for operation over a busy airport and to avoid populated areas,
a take off on 28 with a landing on 10 was the rule, so waiting for the wind to trend the other way late afternoon was the go.
What an awesome machine!
Yesterday put in a couple of hours x-country with some test work to establish the parameters.
Truly blown away.
Minor snags.. slight heavy right wing, no floscan reading for fuel flow and maybe high oil temp issue at 219F on climb
Settled out at 202F in the cruise, but considering winter temps at the moment, I’d be looking to get that back to the 180 as the norm before the summer.
I’m extremely grateful to the many generous people on the RV list for their time and in particular,
Tim Olson’s website that I shamelessly lived on, drew inspiration from and enjoyed immensely. Thanks Tim!!
