This is the 1st year for us to camp, and we've got a couple of questions for the 'repeat offenders'

Can you count on being able to purchase food, milk, meat, ice, etc to cook from the store/near the campsite? Or is it limited to 'essentials'.

Where can you charge cell phones/laptops/ipads etc?

Not a problem to get the items you mentioned, although the meat may be limited to hot dogs, brats, and hamburger. You can charge your stuff up on one of our motor homes, all have outside outlets. If you need something and the store doesn’t have it, you can barrow my or Bob’s vehicle and run to town. We don’t charge much!!!!!

There is a nearby Walmart if you can stand to go in one of those. I-Tim has a plethora of electronic connectors and a 100000000 watt generator and Aux Batteries and a tesla coil to charge anything. The only problem is they are all used up with his own electronics:)

But there is a REQUIRED item if you borrow Gary's car.  You MUST bring a bumper sticker for your favorite university football team (As long as it is not the Georgia Bulldogs) and put it on the car - Just make sure it's lightly taped on.  The results are ALWAYS fun!

Gary, don't let Brenda read this!

Yes, the store at the Red Barn has meat, eggs, milk, vegetables, bread, can goods, etc.

There are also plenty of us that occasionally head to a grocery store off the airport.

There is power around the shower facility, but you have to be real trusting to leave your devices there. Although, I’ve not heard that there is a theft issue and have seen many cells phones left unattended. Generators around the camp usually start promptly at 7:30 in the morning. Most of the folks with generators have extension cords you can plug into. Finding somebody in the RV-10 HQ with a generator running is usually not a problem.

Tim just posted the Zaug’s food schedule. There are places open for breakfast and dinner. Ace’s has good omelets. You don’t have to cook, unless you prefer to cook your meals. Then there are all the group dinners.

And this year I even have a new addition....my previously used
PC925 battery will be set up and charged daily with multi chargers
plugged into 12V jacks.

If you're an iPhone user, seriously check into getting a MiLi
(more info here)
http://www.myrv10.com/N104CD/upgrades/20100328/index.html

Deems: We'll give you a ride for groceries and stuff if you need,
too. Hayden is planning to come and stay with us, so he'd
love to see you too, and we go shopping every day and buy ice
and food.

We'll also be taking our normal mid-week trip to the swimming
hole, so bring your suit!

See these photos from 2008

Getting pumped up.

you're gonna have rain for an hour or so every few days. Heavy rain
in short duration.

Thanks to everyone for the responses and offers for help. I'm sure we'll take you up on at least some of it. Does anybody know where they are going to park the 10's this year? We'll run out of room if they put us in the same place as last year. This group is amazing, after flying 519PJ out last year for the 1st time, and with 5 straight years attendance, I figured we'd sit out OSH 2010, after all, I really don't need to buy anything for the plane, and looking at avionics just gives me buyers remorse, the airshow -as amazing as it is - has lost its allure, there are fewer and fewer new experimental designs brought each year to check out, it probably will rain, its always humid, it costs too much, .............

But a couple of months ago, I started thinking about RV10HQ and all of you guys and I just couldn't NOT be there. I even convinced Judy to camp this year. The closer it gets the more excited I get about coming.

Looking forward to seeing everyone sometime Sat. Is there a shuttle service from HBP to Scholler? We'll have a bunch of stuff to schlep. What day's is Eddie planning on being there?

Fortunately, Tim will most likely be a couple rows east of the RV-10HQ, so no worries……….

Last I heard from Jeff is that there area is going to be expanded a little more again this year since the RV population in general is growing. Personally, I think they should convert of the RED parking area to aircraft parking.

For the man that has almost everything, you need one of these from Geoff (http://aerosportproducts.com/nacavalve.htm)

HBP has a converted pickup they use to shuttle pilots to Scholler. It’s just a question of timing.

If EAA uses rental white Ford pickups again this year, there may be an alternative shuttle service available depending on when you arrive. Worse case, give us a call and several of us can meet you and assist with the gear. I was given some help when I parked in Vintage a couple years ago and am more than will to help others.

Wow, and I thought that was a typo on the schedule that you were camping. Smile I unfortunately won’t be this year, just too much going on. Heck, I’m 500 and some messages behind on the list right now! I’m thinking we need a small nuclear battery to sustain the RV-10 pilots gadgets this year. BTW, hope everyone has their water over flight kits for coming into OSH this year, we are already over twice the average rainfall for July and have several days of forecast rain for this week. I’ve seen roads flooded around here in the last week that I haven’t seen flooded in 20 years.

Bob, got your message, I’ll drop down probably tomorrow morning with the coffee maker, bug spray, and mower. Amy has the truck today so no way to get the mower in her Jetta. I’m probably going to be there a couple days this week and then Mon/Tues next week.

Michael
